A HOME for Travis and Ozzy

Donation protected
TUESDAY Travis & Ozzy update: Well today, we didn't get much farther I am sad to report. I took Travis down to Hope Services this morning, but the wait list to get into a shelter is MONTHS long. Their showers were broken this week, so Travis wasn't able to clean up, so I will bring him home to my house tomorrow to shower and do laundry. The HOPE services outreach worker was lovely, but I found out all the low income rentals had long lease agreements and besides, no one had openings anyway. So, we are back to peg one. I left messages and emails to all the Kona Craig's List ads that looked like possibilities, but no return calls or emails from those either. The HOPE services outreach worker did tell me about Kona Islander Inn, so I think I may have to use some of the funds to get Travis in there for $500 week. I hope that will be a week where he can clean up and present well to prospective landlords. It's not only finding a place, but he also has to apply and since he doesn't have a job at this time...It's a great eye opener at how amazingly difficult it is for one to get back on their feet after a bout of bad luck. On a good note, Ozzy absolutely loves car rides and Travis took the day off of panhandling to give Ozzy's paws a break. I have someone who donated heart worm and flea meds or Ozzy, Rebecca Anne Gilbert comes to groom Ozzy tomorrow, Rachel Kirk is donating some paw cream for Ozzy, Regina DoDaro Romero Serrano is trying to secure a moped for Travis so he has transportation, Michele Steel is working hard trying to secure an Ohana she knows that might become available and Alessandra Rupar-Weber sent me a phone number of a farm that might have housing in exchange for work. Fingers crossed everyone. Tomorrow morning I am taking Travis shopping at Kmart for some clothing and personal items and toiletries anticipating he'll be off the streets by Thursday. It looks like the only way we can get Travis and Ozzy into shelter is going to be word of mouth, so if you know anyone with a room, and Ohana, anything that would work for him and Ozzy, please let us know.
