Help Me Hear

My Name is Amanda. If you know me then you know how hard it is for me to admit to the world that I have a hearing problem. I have struggled with my hearing loss for about the past 9 years. This year I have finally decided to try and do something about it .

After seeing two Audiologist for hearing over this 9 years time span for evaluations and being too afraid, angered, and embarrassed by the results to follow up I have decided to finally follow through.

I recently had an evaluation done finding I have Moderate hearing loss in both ears. All genetic nothing I could have done. I have been allowed a free trial of pair of hearing aids. 12 days in to trial I have never heard so clear. It was both emotional and rewarding at the same time . I can now, with the use of hearing aids hear birds chirping, water crashing, rain falling outside and friends, family and coworkers talking easily without the constant need for them to repeat themselves. This past week I have felt more confident and less anxious in groups settings not afraid of not being able to hear.

I have realized that through the trial and support of family and friends that hearing aids can truly help me with my quality of life. So I have finally decided to take the next step.

Though, like always this benifits come at a cost. Each hearing aid cost $2995 totally $5990. Sadly for me and like many others insurance does cover any of it . I have endured a lot of medical cost this year after a Torn ACL causing me to be out of work for 5 months. I am asking for help in covering cost to allow me to afford these after the trail ends. Anything is appreciated!
