Help Capitol Hill Books Rebuild
Donation protected
Hi, my name is William Kortz and I am fundraising for Capitol Hill Books, an adorable used bookstore in Denver where I have worked for the past two years. On Wednesday, November 17, 2021 a car accident occurred that resulted in a large pick up truck crashing through the entire side wall of the store, including through the glass case where the bookstore's rarest and most expensive books are displayed. We lost a lot of inventory as a consequence of this accident and now have to rebuild a large portion of a 100 year-old building. The insurance assessment and payment process will likely be a lengthy one, but we would like to start rebuilding as soon as possible. In the mean time, we want to keep our doors open to the public, and are asking for your financial help to make that possible, whether that be through a donation or through buying books from us in store or online. This used bookstore has been a staple in the Denver community for 40 years and we could really use some help to keep one of the last independent bookstores in the U.S. alive for many more years to come! We survived the pandemic and know that we can survive this setback too with your help.
Below are some news article and photos showing the damage we have sustained:
If you would like to make an in store purchase or donate gently used books, we are located at 300 E Colfax Ave, Denver, CO.
