Help Colleen On Her Road To Recovery ❤️‍

Hi, my name is Katie Jackson and I am raising funds along with the rest of our family to support my sister Colleen Ward in her long road to recovery. On January 4, 2022, Colleen was rushed by ambulance to the hospital with a severe case of Covid that she’d been battling since Christmas Eve. She would spend the next six weeks in a coma. Her organs were under extreme duress, she had to have a pacemaker inserted to regulate her heart. She coded twice, once for ten minutes, but she fought her way back to us. She was in and out of the hospital for most of 2022. She’s had countless surgeries and procedures. She’s still battling a finicky pancreas which has lost 2/3 of itself and continues to be cranky.

In addition to that, she’s been battling the bureaucracy of the broken healthcare and disability systems. Insurance constantly denies or rejects claims and authorization for lifesaving procedures. She’s been denied disability multiple times and has had to retain an attorney who specializes in navigating the labyrinth designed for people to get discouraged and give up trying to get help and support.

While our family has been able to sustain her to this point, we know there are people out there who are able and willing to assist.

Despite what she’s endured and the challenges that lie ahead in her recovery (not to mention the mounting medical bills and living expenses) Colleen remains her hopeful, optimistic self, she remains prayerful, and her focus is on getting well so she can enjoy her first grandchild born last summer.

Since she’s been sick, I’ve heard numerous stories from people who’ve been on the receiving end of her kindness and generosity. It would be a huge blessing to her to receive support in this most challenging time. It’s taken this long for her to be willing to allow us to ask for help, and any contributions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much.
