Jontae’s spinal cord injury

So I’ve been working through A LOT of things regarding Jontae and moving to Houston, and after talking with the director of case management at TIRR and my dad, I’ve decided to actually stay in California. Although TIRR has amazing resources, her injury is so complex and California medical benefits are best for our particular situation. The support of our family and friends is so important for all of us to have a good quality of life. If you all have questions, feel free to reach out outside of this, but I appreciate everyones continued prayers and support as I navigate this huge life change. I love you all dearly ❤️❤️❤️

UPDATE: 4/24/2023

First, thank you to everyone that made a donation.. we truly appreciate and love all of you! Jontae is currently receiving care in Houston, TX at TIRR Memorial Hermann, a rehabilitation and research hospital specializing in spinal cord injuries. Jontae’s injury is a C1 injury and is extremely complex.. in fact, less than 2% of those with her type of injury actually survive. GOD IS SO GOOD!! 

At TIRR, there are resources we never imagined with top tier physicians and therapists. Jontae has access to these tools is learning how to live as independently as possible with how she is right now. She is able to participate in research studies to help not only herself, but the entire community of people with spinal cord injuries. In order for her to continue to be a part the amazing family at TIRR, my family needs to relocate to Houston, TX and in order to do that, we need more help. I am raising more money to get my family to Houston where Jontae will be able to remain a member of the wonderful community at TIRR.

My name is Nicole Luney, and I am a single mother of two amazing people.. my 22 year old daughter, Jontae and my 9 year old son, Josiah (JJ). Some of you may or may not know, Jontae has been hospitalized since being in a horrible car accident right before Christmas, on December 18, 2022. She suffered life threatening injuries and now my family’s life has been changed forever. The amazing neurosurgeons at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles were able to save her life, thank God! She is currently in a Long Term Acute Care Hospital in the LA area undergoing extensive rehab, with a focus on ventilator weaning. While I am learning new information everyday about spinal cord injuries, one thing that remains evident is the road to mental and physical recovery will be a very long, and very intense journey. I am raising money to assist with the medical bills and all added expenses related to Jontae’s recovery. We will be victorious through all of this with our faith in God, and the continued support of our friends and family. Please pray for Jontae.. pray for complete healing and total restoration of the body from the top of her head down to the soles of her feet.
