Brian's Road to Recovery
The Dog show community is one that takes care of our own and right now one of our own could use a little help. On August 5, 2021 Brian Still, PHA suffered a massive stroke and is currently hospitalized. While he was moved from the ICU yesterday the length of his hospital stay is unknown at this time.
This stroke was severe and in addition to what is looking like a long hospital stay Brian will have a lengthy stay in a rehabilitation facility before he can think about returning home. At this time what that return home will look like for Brian is also unknown. The one thing that is known is that Brian will be incurring some unexpected expenses.
Yes, Take the Lead is an amazing organization and certainly we can look to them for some help with medical bills and expenses that fall within their charter but while we do not know the extent of the bills Brian will have we know many of them will not be within that charter.
Over the course of his career Brian has campaigned multiple top winning dogs and shown countless others. He has also helped many breeders and owners achieve goals and realize dreams by handling their dogs to championships, BIS, BISS wins and more. He has mentored, lent a hand and supported many.
For those of you whom Brian has shown dogs for over the years I am asking you to think back to those moments - the day he finished your dog, the BISS win on your young special, the groups wins and placements, the BIS ribbons. Those are moments you cherish and moments that Brian had an important role in.
For those of you that have pedigrees that go back to some of those amazing dogs that made lasting impacts on your breed - would you have the breeding program you have today if Brian hadn't shown and campaigned those dogs?
For Brian's peers and fellow handlers - as a professional group as much as you compete with one another, you support one another and I am sure you can all think of a moment when Brian reached out a hand and helped you.
Thinking of those wins, special dogs and moments that Brian had a hand in and in honor of those I am asking each of us to take a handling fee, an entry fee, the cost of a Starbucks, whatever you are personally able to and donate to this GoFundMe for Brian.
