Help with funeral expenses and bills

Donation protected
My name is Heather. At 5:45 this morning my best friend Kevin took his hero walk with his family at his side. At 6:51am, Kevin gave his kidneys to save someone who needed them. My heart is beyond broken and at the same time, I couldn’t be prouder to call this man my best friend. I don’t even think anyone realized he was an organ donor. Kev sure had a way of always making “his girls” smile. I can’t believe we really had to say goodbye.

I am reaching out to help my best friend’s wife and daughter with his final expenses and to help them keep their home. This is something I never imagined having to write, let alone live through. Though my heart breaks with every word I type, I know I need to do this for my best friend… no… they are my family.

On Friday, November 17th, 2023, my best friend of almost 12 years, Kevin was found unresponsive at home by his daughter Katrina who performed CPR on her dad until the police and ambulance arrived. The paramedics were able to get a weak pulse and take him to the hospital for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, after hours of waiting at the hospital for answers, the doctors told Kevin’s wife (Kristina) that there was no brain activity and he had been without oxygen for several hours. Kristina was forced to make a choice that no wife ever wants to be faced with. Kevin would have more tests throughout the night. Saturday November 18th, 2023, Kevin was put through more tests. Still no brain activity. Kevin could not come back from this and Kristina now had to make the decision to stop life support. That’s when we found out he would be a donor and he would be taking his hero walk.

The loss of Kevin is traumatic for everyone who loved him. He is a husband (Kristina), a Father of two boys that he adores, a 'Dad' (Nicky (Chet), Emma and Katrina), a grandpa (Levi), a son, a brother, my confidant, and a great friend. Almost 12 years ago, he without any hesitation took on the title and role of 'Dad' to two little girls (Emma and Katrina) who love him with their entire beings and would move the earth for him, as he would for them. A son, Nicholas, whom Kevin loves and thinks the world of. Now Nicky’s wife, Chet and baby Levi (Kevin's Grandson) have now been added to our ever-growing family. Emma is a freshman at Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina and Katrina is a junior at Jackson memorial high School.

If you knew him, you couldn't help but love him. Kevin has always been the jokester, the life of the party, the funny guy... Kevin was the party. He had a smile that could light up a room. Kevin had more heart and love for his family and friends than I have ever seen. He would always help anyone who asked.

With this unexpected tragedy for our family and costs that will be incurred, Kristina and Katrina will need help with funeral costs and monthly bills. I'm asking that everyone please donate if you can and share if you can't. My best friend would have done this for me, and I WILL NOT let him down. This has been a tough 48 hours for Kristina and everyone who loves Kevin. Please help me keep Kevin’s wife and daughter in their home and give my best friend the sendoff he deserves and keep Kevin’s family, our family in your prayers. Thank you in advance.

There will be a celebration of life for Kevin next month. We will update with the information as soon as we can.
