Remembering Connie

I am heartbroken to share that this past weekend, my husband unexpectedly lost his mother, Connie and the world lost one of its kindest and most optimistic souls.

Connie had just landed at the airport in Rome, Italy, ready to spend some time with Patrick’s sister, Katie, on a beautiful vacation. Connie was so excited about the adventure she was about to embark on with her daughter. Sadly, after picking up her bags from baggage claim my mom was waiting out by the airport shuttle and suffered a severe heart attack and ultimately passed after several attempts were made to save her. It all happened very fast, but we are grateful that she didn’t suffer and that she was surrounded by the most amazingly caring Delta crew members and EMTs in her final moments. Delta and our family and friends have taken incredible care of Katie during this time while she is in Rome to help bring their mom back home. We take solace in knowing that Connie’s last moments were ones of optimism, joy, and adventure, but we are absolutely heartbroken by this loss.

We will miss Connie tremendously. Patrick’s mom was the kind of woman who loved everyone as if they were her own. She would take anyone in and make them feel cherished and cared for. Everyone who met Connie could see that in her. And those who had the opportunity to have a special ‘Connie Hug’ knew how truly special she was and could feel the love she so freely radiated. The memories of Connie’s love and her famous hugs will forever live on. Her love will pass on through Patrick, Katie, and Chuck to others in their lives. Patrick’s boys will know Connie’s love through us.

We are planning a Celebration of Life for his mom in Dahlonega, GA. We will be holding the Celebration of Life in a venue full of life, sunlight, and beauty. We will be sending out and sharing the details on the date and location in the coming weeks. Anyone that wants to attend and celebrate Connie’s life with us is welcome and we would love to have you there. Please join me in supporting my husband’s family with the upcoming costs in planning a beautiful celebration of Connie’s life, and to provide financial peace of mind to Chuck as he takes time to grieve this tremendous loss. This year, Chuck and Connie would have been celebrating their 40th year of marriage, our hearts ache for his sudden loss. Prayers for the Jones family during this difficult time are deeply valued.
