On behalf of Tasha Abri (Blake's Mom), Aaron Warnock (Step Dad), Adam Mendenhall (Dad) and Sharelle Mendenhall (Step Mom) -
Our nephew Blake Mendenhall is embarking on a long healing journey. He & his family could really use every ounce of HELP, PRAYERS, LOVE and SUPPORT.
ONE MONTH UPDATE INCLUDED -
On Sunday, February 25th, Blake was in a catastrophic Snowboarding accident. He was hospitalized in Reno, Nevada at Renown Hospital for several weeks. His spinal cord was severed and he cannot move or feel his legs. He underwent multiple hours of neurosurgery and now has rods and screws holding his spine together. THANK YOU to the amazing team at Renown for all they did and their constant support. THANK YOU to Ronald McDonald House for providing housing for Blake's family, and a kitchen where Mom could cook food for Blake while he was hospitalized.
On Tuesday, March 12th, Blake was transferred via Medic Plane to Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in Colorado. He will spend anywhere from 30 to 60 days at this amazing facility - healing, learning how to use his wheelchair through all aspects of life, building up his strength and meeting new friends who are going through a similar recovery journey.
As an amazing, energetic, social 15 year-old and an extremely talented athlete, as you can imagine, this is a life-changing moment and we want to make sure this devastating accident is turned into an overwhelming gathering of HELP and HOPE.
We are raising funds for not only the medical costs that have and will be incurred in the coming months, but also funds for the things he and his family will need long term - out patient rehabilitation, equipment, therapy, a wheelchair accessible vehicle and home modifications, to make the home functional for him and his future.
We want to THANK all those local to Napa Valley who volunteered contracting work or to donate their time in helping make the home modifications they will need, we are SO grateful.
A HUGE THANK YOU to all the local organizations who posted about Blake's accident and recovery, put signs up in their establishments, those who set up their own local fundraisers to benefit Blake, and those who set up and provided meals for the family while Mom is by Blake's side. The amount of support has been OVERWHELMING and awe-inspiring!
We especially would like to acknowledge Rick Robben Construction. We are extremely thankful to them for the work they have done to renovate Blake's new room, extending it out to accommodate him and creating an ADA bathroom with access from his bedroom. They have put everything on hold to make this happen in record time before Blake returns home. This will change Blake's entire future and recovery. It takes someone with a very special and deep heart to take on and donate this kind of project. We are FOREVER GRATEFUL!!!
At this time, we have a full comprehensive list of those able to donate time and work (THANK YOU!!!!) and the last thing we are looking for is the possibility of concrete work, to fill in a small portion of the backyard that would allow greater access for Blake to spend time with his family and friends outside during the summer months. For this type of donation/inquiry, please message through Go Fund Me with your contact info. We will be compiling the information for the family and will be reaching out. Thank you in advance!
We are providing in-depth weekly updates about Blake's recovery on Caring Bridge (link below), so please take a look and follow along! We ask that you please refrain from contacting or reaching out to the family directly, during this time.
Please help keep those donations coming! Please spread the word! Please send up your prayers and positivity!
Please help us support this wonderful amazing family and their incredible, brave son Blake!
Eternally grateful to you,
