Lisa's Medical Bills
Donation protected
So here we are....
Not going to mince words, we're in a big mess.
Lisa's medical bills are generally covered. The issue is the Medical coverage, the furnace and timing.
The rent check was cashed a day later than it was supposed to be, and we still had some money to pay out before medical coverage kicked in. The day before rent was cashed, we had thought we were covered so we got what she needed, but turned out we didn't have the coverage yet. We haven't had medical coverage until recently, so we've had to pay out-of-pocket while we waited for the taxes to go through and we would get Lisa's Fair-Pharma-Care coverage. There's a percentage amount that you have to meet before Fair-Pharma-Care Coverage starts and we hadn't met it yet.
We had to pay in order to get the medications she absolutely needs, and now there’s still a couple medications that she needs immediately…..her Chemotherapy medications and her Heart medications. And this is a DIRE need and we wouldn’t ask for help if we didn’t absolutely HAVE to. These medications are extremely important. There’s no other way to say it. She HAS to have them. It’s literally a matter of life and death. She’s already had one stroke without these medications.
We had it all. Everything was FINE! We were prepared for when we THOUGHT it was going to be covered. We just weren’t prepared for it to go down this way and at this time.
Add to it the furnace died out 2 weeks ago and we had to buy space heaters so we didn't freeze while the landlord was trying to get it fixed and it was quite cold, with Lisa's Lupis and on chemo, her immune system is screwed so she can get very sick very easily and we couldn't have her, or any of us for that matter, freezing while we waited. Too big a risk.
I sold my car and my Axe to deal with all this medical stuff going on since the accident.
She's got:
- Several compression fractures in her spine
- Bulging and Herniated Discs in her spine
- Disc Degenerative Disease in her Spine
- Scoliosis
- Peripheral Neuropathy in her right leg from the knee down
- Peripheral Neuropathy her right arm from the shoulder down and just recently had emergency surgery to try and fix the issue in her arm. We're unsure how it's effected as it'll take awhile to even begin to heal, and it's infected some at the sight because she used stitches sparingly and just used glue for the main centre of the incision.
On top of it, she's got diagnosed with Severe PTSD and MDD (Major Depressive Disorder).
ALL of this because of the accident, because we were T-Boned and it was directly on Lisa's door, causing the plethora of medical issues I just listed.
Then comes our expenses before Fair-Pharma-Coverage:
Her chemo meds are $900 alone.
One of her Heart Medications is $400 EVERY MONTH and is NEVER covered so we always have to pay that out, but, again, usually we're fine.
And now, she needs an actual Wheelchair due to the Compression Fractured Vertibrae in her spine and the Peripheral Neuropathy in her Right Leg. She can't walk more than 10 feet or stand for longer than 1 minute. Four years ago, our doctor told us that Lisa would “end up in a wheelchair“. There is no more “ending up”. She needs it now. Currently we have a walker that can convert into a pseudo-wheelchair but she has to have someone push it and she can’t have someone with her 24/7 at all times. She needs one that she can wheel herself.
We're only asking for this much to cover the medications, the wheelchair she needs and the GoFundMe Fees. There is a fee of 2.9% plus $0.30 fee per donation.
We hate that we're reduced to this, but we're literally behind a rock and a hard place, all options have been exhausted. So if you can share this, maybe even help out, it is greatly appreciated. We wouldn't ask if it wasn't a dire need and nowhere else to go.
This is her elbow as of just under a week ago or so for reference:
