SHS Luvabulls to the Sugar Bowl
Donation protected
The Omaha South High Magnet Luvabulls Varsity Dance Team have been invited to participate in an amazing performance education experience this coming December. We’ll spend a total of 5 days together practicing and performing on the field for 75,000 fans during halftime of the Sugar Bowl! Here are some of the awesome things we will experience:
· Perform on the field along with other high school students from many parts of the country
· Receive constructive evaluation from top-tier instructors
· Feel the reward of achieving excellence in performance in front of thousands of people
· Improve their personal knowledge and skill
· Join in the excitement of a major bowl game
· Share in some social and cultural activities in New Orleans before returning home
· Earn academic credit by completing an online course designed for this event
In order to take part in this totally unique adventure, the team needs to raise only $6,000 more dollars to reach our goal of $33,000.00 before the end of December!
Please help our team by sponsoring a portion of our trip. Any contribution you could make would bring us that much closer to this amazing experience.
What you may or may not know about Omaha South High Magnet School is that we are one of the Omaha Public School’s magnet based high schools offering a variety of magnet opportunities which include Information Technology, Dual Language, and Visual and Performing Arts. At South, the student population is very diverse. According to Mr. Ruben Cano’s January 2015 Executive Summary, “Our enrollment is 2436 students, which is the largest high school in the state of Nebraska. In fact, South High School has grown over 35% within the last 6 years.
Did you know that each of our Luvabulls are already responsible for paying a $1,000.00 bill per year which covers the cost of their uniforms and their participation in summer training with the Universal Dance Association?
Did you know that, outside of the hours that they spend in the dance studio to have excellent performances during our Varsity half-time shows, the Luvabulls annually average over 100 hours of community service and volunteer hours at Omaha South and in the South Omaha community?
This trip, while a complete honor, is an additional expense for our team members who are already working to pay their initial team bill. Your support would help them partake in a travel opportunity and life experience that they would not be able to outside of Omaha South! Please do not hesitate to contact me directly, if you have any questions or want to hear more about this really great learning opportunity!
