Meet Ace! Ace is a 8 month old kitten who’s been in foster care since he was 8 weeks old. It was suspected that he had mild Cerebellar Hypoplasia, but his foster mom noticed that the symptoms were different than what she’d seen in CH cats.
Ace’s muscles seemed to be affected the most, he walked very stiff and when startled he’d fall over. His facial muscles also seemed to be affected and when he’d yawn or his face would be touched the muscles would free for a bit. His foster mom started to do some research and suspected that he had Myotonia Congenita, a genetic disorder that causes muscles to have a delayed relaxation after contracting. This is very rare in cats, we’ve actually never had a cat at Buddy with this condition before.
Ace is currently undergoing testing at Veterinary Specialty to confirm this diagnosis. These tests are very expensive so we’d love to raise some funds to help alleviate some of the financial burden that this would cost The Buddy Foundation. Any donation to support Ace’s care and diagnosis would be greatly appreciated!
