Dear Friends of the Szelangowski's,
Many of you have heard that in the middle of a vacation, Mike Szelangowski became critically ill with pneumonia after a recent diagnosis of recurrent esophegeal cancer. He was taken off the ship in St Maarten where they tried to medivac him and Karen to Florida. Unfortunately as they were loading him for medivac his blood pressure plummetted and he crashed. They performed CPR to revive him, but he was barely holding on. He was not stable enough to fly back to the states and he did not make it through the night. He died in St Maarten with Karen by his side, while Traci, Tim and their kids were hours away with no way to get to them or to know what was happening. They had to get Karen back to the states and now they need to bring Mike back home too. Mike loved his family and friends more than anything. He was taken too soon. The Medivac from the boat cost over $21,000 which does not include any medical costs on the boat itself or at the hospital in St. Maarten's. Mike has to be repatriated from St. Maarten's back to New Hampshire and that will cost over $10,000. On top of all of these bills there are the funeral expenses to be paid. I have known this family for decades and they are special people. They are devastated. I wanted to start this page so the family doesn't have to worry about significant financial burdens during this terrible time. Please donate whatever you can and share the page with friends and family. If you want to donate directly to them, please send checks to TRACI BEARD, PO BOX 177, Newport, NH 03773 Thank you for all of your support!
