The Phoenix Tavern has been serving the Johnstown community for 47 years and, until now, has never laid off an employee. Our staff is like family and we are incredibly proud of our record. The need to reduce staff during this pandemic was the most difficult action we’ve ever had to take. Due to state orders and our own precautions to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the Johnstown area, the Phoenix Tavern’s exceptional team is, for the first time, out of work.
We are always looking for ways to help our staff, especially now, as we manage the unprecedented challenge facing each and every one of us. At this time, we are providing our team with a free meal every day. All they need to do is call and place an order for contactless pick-up and Colette will fix 'em up a meal on us. Cooking has always been Colette’s way of saying she cares and we want to make sure our team is cared for during this difficult time.
While we are doing everything we can, we are asking our community to help us provide support for our staff.
We’d like you to remember the good times you've had at The Phoenix Tavern. Think back to a time when Amanda delivered a world-famous chicken ball to your table, fresh out of the fryer. Or when Lori made you feel like a regular, even though it was your first time dining with us. Or when Sasha had your usual drink ready before you could even order. Or when Joey made you laugh because, well, he’s Joey D.
Please think of this fund as a virtual tip jar for your favorite Phoenix Tavern staff. It’s an incredibly generous way for you to show your continued appreciation and support for our team during this time of need.
We'll distribute 100% of the funds directly to the Phoenix's hourly-staff in need during this time. As an incentive, once we raise $500, GoFundMe will match the donations, using their small business relief fund!
Thank you for your continued support during this pandemic. We’re doing everything we can to stay open and serve you safely. We can't wait to open our doors and invite you all in for wing night, darts, stories about Sappy, and the best homemade food around. Stay safe and we'll see you again soon.
