Basil’s surgery

On June 28th my family ran outside to see my barely one year old puppy, Basil, laying on the ground barely breathing. A car had mistakenly pulled into our driveway and hit our dog,shattering her pelvis and collapsing her left lung. In our moments of shear panic, we knew we’d do anything to rescue our dog, just like we would with a member of the family. We rushed her to the nearest veterinary hospital were they kept her stable but they said they couldn’t do anything more to save her. Sick to our stomaches, we couldn’t accept that as an answer. Cornell University Vet Hospital answered our pleas for help and took Basil in, doing everything they could to save her life. By the grace of God, they were able to stabilize her and believe she will survive. This horrific incident leaves my family to pay $10,000 for Basil’s medical treatment. While we would do anything to save our dog, this leaves my family with a debilitating debt that we nowhere near expected to owe.
