Alexander and His Family

At the start of this year, my wife and I moved into our first apartment together; with that being our first joy, we never would have imagined we would have more great news on the horizon when we found out we were pregnant and were expecting our first baby boy! The anticipation and excitement was our main focus until my wife fell into preterm labor at 23 weeks pregnant in May. We were told our baby boy would have a 50% chance of surviving the birth if he made his entrance into the world early. Luckily with the advancement of medicine, they were able to stop her preterm labor contractions and put her on strict bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. We assumed this was the worst of it but fell with even more tragic news when my wife found a lump in her breast in June of this year. Her biopsy results indicated that the mass was stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma. My wife's care team constructed a care plan immediately and she has been undergoing chemotherapy while pregnant. She had to be induced and give birth at only 36 weeks to continue with more aggressive chemotherapy treatment. With only 3 days to recover after giving birth to our son, she was back at her first transfusion again. The remainder of her treatment includes chemotherapy and an anticipated mastectomy surgery that will be scheduled based on the MRI results at the end of October. With this being said, Lindemann has been kind enough to have supported me when I need to stay home to take care of our newborn or take my wife to her appointments. However, staying home to offer this support has left us in a financial strain. With my wife unable to work, newborn, medical bills and bills in general starting to pile, it has been hard to manage. If anything, we ask for prayers for a safe and fast recovery. We thank you greatly for any extended kindness and cannot express our gratitude in words that could explain it enough!
