Support Steve & Deb Waldron

11/9/23: We can't thank you all enough for the support, thoughts and prayers. Things are stable-ish. We were all told before surgery that Dads short term memory could be affected from the surgery, we were hopeful it wouldn't be, however, it is. The recovery so far is filled with healing and rest. As you can imagine, some days are better than others.
Deb is right by Dads side as she has been. She has to be with him incase of a seizure. however, she needs to be there as his memory is not good. He also is having trouble with his speech. Not being able to communicate like he normally would has been hard on him. He has expressive and receptive aphasia so it is sometimes hard for him to understand as well as to speak. When he does speak it often is completely opposite of what he is trying to say.
Please continue sharing. We are hoping to make this process as worry free for them as we can as bills are and will continue coming. Dad and now Deb also are unable to work as the care Dad is needing and will need, for how long we aren't sure.
All of us are hopeful it will get better. Please continue sending love and prayers. He meets with neurosurgeon Monday, with hopefully more answers about the prognosis as we are waiting pathology from the tumor.
UPDATE: Us kids can not express how much you all mean to us. Deb has been overwhelmed with calls, texts, and visits.
Dad had a good start a few hours after surgery talking, sore but had a good start... About 7pm that night (Monday) Dad had a big change while I was visiting. He didn't know his birthday, where we were, who i was or what he had surgery on, this continued in to yesterday. Last night (Tuesday) was another rough night. He had been running a fever and vomiting. To say we have been scared, is an understatement. He was struggling with his memory but that appears to be better. He has had trouble speaking. Medically referred to as aphasia. Basically when you talk to him he has trouble forming the words so example: today Dr asked "what day was yesterday" Dad replied "It was a percentage"
He is out of bed today and walked a few steps to the bathroom, currently dozing in his chair. Hopeful he can be moved from ICU later today.
This is something that will be a yo-yo recovery. He will take a couple steps forward and 1 step back, then repeat. He has an amazing support system. All of your prayers and wishes are working and so so appreciated, please keep them coming as he has a long road to recovery. Will continue to update.
Hi, for those who don't know me, I'm Tara, Steve's daughter. About 2 weeks ago Dad began having some episodes that would last about 10 minutes or so where he would forget things like their animal names. When Deb questioned it, he just looked kind of blankly at her, didn't think too much of it (as they are animal lovers), until now. This we now know, has happened a few times. Once, while walking and suddenly he didn't know why he had walked past where he was initially heading. Scary.
On top of all this he has been having some abdominal issues. He had went to the Doctor about a week and a half ago and they ordered some tests but he had to wait about 15 days for insurance to approve, these would have been for his belly and his brain. they waited.
Last Wednesday night while dad was working, he sat down at his computer to login to check machines (as he does everynight) when he say down, he got a pressure in his head and could not remember how to login or which icon to click on. Luckily he had mentioned this to his coworker, Eric- who is an angel on Earth for our family. When Dad came around and talked with his co workers who said something was very wrong and called 911. Dad called Deb and flash forward to Saturday.
Saturday- After so many pokes and tubes and tests, it has been confirmed that Dad is having seizures, which they prescribed a medication he will be on for life. On top of this Dad will be unable to WORK (due to his job and safety) or DRIVE for at least 3 months. He is still hoping they will let him work and do something- if you know Dad- this is normal. But...
On the opposite side they found a spot, a tumor that needs to be removed. Neurosurgeon was there, they had a spot open Monday- Dad took it. He wants to get it over with. Its scheduled. Got Dad moved to Bryan West and here we are.
Surgery is over, it went good. He is actually awake at this time and talking. Not feeling great. We will not get any results for about 2 weeks. They are overwhelmed with prayers, messages, texts, and calls.
Some have reached out asking for ways to help as Dad and Deb have both always been there to help so many. Please continue to send love, prayers and support. If you would like to make a donation to help with gas for future appointments, monthly and medical bills, or groceries anything will help.
We are also working on getting an account set up through Pinnacle Bank for donations. Will post updates as available, as this isnt quite over yet. He has a long road ahead of him.
Please share and support our Dad. Thank you everyone for the love.
