Ladavionne deserves a safe ride fit for a Warrior

April 30, 2021 was by far the worst day of Ladavionne’s life. That was the day he was shot in the head - the unintended and innocent victim of gun violence in North Minneapolis nearly died. In fact, doctor’s only gave him 72 hours to live, but he continues to defy those odds. No one has been arrested for the shooting.
November 27, 2022 was by far the best day of his life. It was the day he met Steph Curry. Like many other children , Curry is Ladavionne’s favorite athlete. Curry autographed his hat, posed for photos and even told Ladavionne he would win another championship in his honor. The smile on Ladavionne’s face was the biggest I’ve seen since the shooting.
It was a beautiful moment, however, moments of joy for this young boy shouldn’t be limited to infrequent, grand gestures. Ladavionne deserves to experience life and childhood everyday.
Because he is wheelchair bound, Ladavionne’s grandma and #1 fan, Sharrie relies on a medical van service or an occasional taxi. Neither is a reliable transportation option.
We can bring more moments of joy into Ladavionne’s life by helping Sharrie purchase a wheelchair accessible van of her own. She is his full-time caretaker and a selfless human. And like Steph Curry, Ladavionne is a warrior, but he shouldn’t have to fight for a happy childhood. An accesible van would not only make his journey ahead more enjoyable, it would greatly assist in his recovery.
