Emily's College Tuition Fund

Hi everyone! We are raising money for Emily Detre's college tuition. Emily was recently accepted into the University of Tennessee's FUTURE program, a comprehensive program that helps young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities successfully transition from high school to adult life.

Emily was diagnosed with fetal alcohol syndrome at a young age. Her father passed away in 2017, and her mother passed away in 2020. Nonetheless, Emily excelled and graduated from Soddy Daisy High School in 2021. She currently lives with her aunt and grandfather in Sale Creek, TN, working as an intern at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Chattanooga, TN, through the Project SEARCH program. Emily also attends Trinity Lutheran Church and volunteers frequently in her community. In her free time, she participates in local sports, including basketball, softball, and rock climbing.

Emily is incredibly ambitious and plans to use her college experience to better herself in many ways. She has a strong desire to live independently, learn to manage her money properly, and obtain her driver's license. She is an avid learner and hopes to take recreational therapy, food science, and animal science classes at the University of Tennessee. Upon graduating from the UTK FUTURE program, Emily aspires to achieve a paid, full-time position in one of these fields and give back to her local community.
