Jason Lassiter ATV accident, medical support
Donation protected
My name is Terilyn Cannon. I am reaching out on behalf of the Hammock and Lassister families. Kelly and David's son, Jason, was involved in a devastating 4-wheeler accident on August 6th. Jason was thrown into a tree and had to be life-flighted to Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta. He sustained many injuries, including a fracture of the thoracic vertebra, a right clavicle fracture, right subclavian artery occlusion, a liver contusion, and a contusion of the right lung. The muscles and vasculature in Jason's right arm sustained tremendous damage causing him to require a bypass of the damaged artery. He has loss of sensation and use of his right arm and is being treated by a neurologist to do everything they can to help him regain feeling and movement, hopefully. He was fitted for a back brace that he will wear for several months. Jason endured multiple surgeries and spent a week in the hospital, several of those days in the intensive care unit. Jason continues to experience nearly constant, severe pain at home. The complexities of his injuries will require many doctor visits, possible further surgeries, and a lot of time. Fortunately, he was able to return home with around-the-clock care from his parents. It will be a long, uphill battle for the Hammock family, requiring Kelly to be out of work indefinitely. Any parent understands the pain of watching their child suffer and will make any sacrifice to help them. The Hammocks are a dear, hard-working Christian family. Let's come together as a community and show our love and support to them during this challenging time; by offsetting the tremendous medical bills and loss of income while on leave from work, we can give them the ability to focus on getting their precious son feeling better.
