Support Tom's Fight Against Cancer
Donation protected

If you know Tom, you love him. You probably also know the impact he has had on the lives of so many. He’s the kind of man who gives selflessly—whether as a father, husband, son, brother, cousin, friend, colleague, mentor, coach, or volunteer. Tom has spent his life lifting others up, always putting his heart and soul into everything he does.
But now, Tom is fighting the battle of his life—and this time, he needs us. The weight of his illness is heavy enough, but it has also brought an overwhelming financial burden on his family. Now, more than ever, the Gibbons family needs our support. Let’s rally together to lift some of that burden so they can focus on what truly matters—fighting and healing. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a difference.
Tom was declared in remission after his first stem cell transplant last year and was doing great. Then follow up tests confirmed what his family didn’t want to hear, the cancer was back. Sue & Tom took the kids on that once in a lifetime Disney cruise, and they pretended like cancer was not a part of their reality for a whole week. "It was Heaven", as his wife Sue put it.
As soon as they got home in August, his next round of fighting started. Tom would need a donor stem cell transplant this time. Tom's parents blessed him with four opportunities for siblings who could be a possible match who were all lining up the very next day to be tested. His sister Cath was a 100% match. Tom needed to be in remission for the transplant. He started a clinical trial at MSK and Tom was working toward remission, when right around Christmas time, the cancer came back again, the trial wasn’t working. His amazing doctor at MSK started working with UPENN, one of only 2 clinical trial sites for a new CAR-T cell treatment for his type of lymphoma. In January, Tom got positive news that this new trial was working and he would be able to be able to go right to transplant. Tom had a date. February 28. He was one week away during his pre-admission testing when they found that while all the previous lesions had cleared - there was one new one that no one expected. The transplant had to be put on hold, and soon after Tom’s condition worsened. But even now, with the cancer still present, Tom and Sue continue to fight, side by side.
The Gibbons family has been through more than anyone should have to endure. The emotional toll is unimaginable, but the financial toll is something that we can help ease. For all of you who have asked, “What can I do?” Second to your prayers, would be to help with a donation. Every bit counts. Together, we can show the Gibbons family the love and support they need right now. Sending good vibes & prayers!
