Help support Joy & Cheryl through a difficult time

Hi, Joy & I are having a difficult spell. After the big tech company RIF in August 2023, Joy has been looking for a new position and even snagged interviews. Unfortunately, no job yet. We've gone through our savings and have reached the end of our rope. I've done okay at in person events but things took a down turn at the end of the year and have not picked up with my small business this year. I've been looking for a job as well (remote and/or part-time to accommodate by disabilities).

Looking at the memories from both Google photos and FB On This Day, I see that we've had some really difficult times over the past 5 years. Joy was hit one block from our home by an SUV that was stolen. It took 2 years before we got any compensation. It's why we currently have a car payment each month.

Then I have a mass on my left ovary. I've been evaluated for several cancers due to abnormal blood readings which persist but still no diagnosis.

Then there's all the stuff around Joy's transition. So much paperwork! Plus adjusting on both our parts to her living as her authentic self.

My own realization of my disability. It's a whole grieving process y'all.

Then the deaths of cherished friends. So many. Too many. Then Joy's mother at the age of 100. I'm so glad she got to enjoy some time with her daughter.

Then Joy's hospitalization when her kidneys crashed. Slow recovery and realization that we are aging.

Then there's the job changes, unemployment, and so on. Add in the pandemic, my brother's cancer and yeah. It's been a really fucking difficult few years.

I am so, so grateful for our friends for their love and support. I'm glad I found an excellent therapist. Plus a medical team and medications that help. I still struggle with pain management at times though.

But we do need assistance. Just for a little while longer.
