Help Ms. JoAnn in New Orleans!

Ms. JoAnn knows that being a good landlord is one of the best ways to help others and reduce crime. She is president of Shalom Zone Community Inc., (a ministry of the First Street United Methodist Church in New Orleans), which has maintained a 4-unit apartment building in one of the city's toughest neighborhoods since 2005. By providing affordable housing to Grandparents, people with disabilities and United Saints volunteers, they not only assist underserved residents but also help keep their streets safe by deterring criminal activity.

Unfortunately, due to substantial damage from Hurricane Ida in 2021, Shalom Zone Community Inc., is now in danger of losing the property. Renovations have been appraised at $30,000 to repair and make the apartments a safe and healthy place to live and work or stay and volunteer in New Orleans.
