Update: On September 1st, my dad lost his battle to cancer. Thank you everyone for the generous donations. We are so very thankful for all of the prayers and kinds words said. All of these donations will be used for funeral costs.
Hello,
My name is Alyssa and as some of you know, my dad was diagnosed with Adenocarcinoma of the GI structure in September 2022. The malignant neoplasm metastasized to bones, bi-lateral adrenal glands and lymph nodes. After completing his third line of chemotherapy, his cancer metastasized and deteriorated any progress he had been making. The oncology team felt his body would not withstand any further treatment, and they discontinued his care wanting to place him in Hospice. His insurance does not cover room and board at a hospice care facility ($320/day), and we cannot afford to pay out of pocket. My mom was not able to return to teaching as planned, and will be on leave without pay as she has used up all her sick leave during his treatment. Thankfully, she does have a position at CHS to return to when she is able to but with having to care for my dad at home, that will not be possible until he is able to go to a hospice care facility.
My dad has been such a hard worker and running his own painting business for 15 years but since his diagnosis he has not been able to work to help provide. They are not one to reach out for help but my parents could use any and all the help they can get.
Thank you in advance. Our family really appreciates it!
