Tabitha Diva Montenera Cancer Fund
Tabitha “Diva” Montenera, some of you may know the 45 year old artist for her accomplished art work in NYC which can be seen in magazines, galleries, public displays and many places throughout the city. Tabitha started her art crusade in the 1980’s. as a graffiti artist who had to fight for respect alongside the male dominated graffiti art movement. With her revered name in the street art community, she won that fight. Today, Tabitha is fighting the real fight, that damned CANCER. Tabitha was diagnosed with Stage 3 non small cell lung cancer in June of 2016. Devastating news to anyone who has to hear those unfortunate words “You Have Cancer”. Since being diagnosed Tabitha has been following a strict medical plan provided by her doctors, as well as, a personal fire and determination to extend her life and ultimately defeat this diagnosis, God willing.
After being misdiagnosed by her primary doctor 3 years ago for her cough and shortness of breath, in May 2016 she finally saw a Pulmonologist who ordered a chest x-ray. While looking for a home to purchase in Florida, Tabitha received a phone call from the doctor. I personally believe no one should have to hear those words over the phone but unfortunately, that’s how Tabitha was informed of her cancer diagnosis. How fast our priorities can change! Tabitha’s medical bills have reached upwards of $60k, out of pocket since being diagnosed and this is with medical insurance! The financial burden has become overwhelming. Tabitha is facing these same expenses in the coming months. We are hoping to raise $30k, which is roughly half the cost of Tabitha’s upcoming treatments. She hopes to raise the rest through art sales and auctions.
So today, I call on you, friends, family, acquaintances and humans alike. Let’s show Tabitha that great people do exist as we rally for this cause to help her afford her next round of treatments. Lets lift this monetary burden from her soul as she continues her fight and determination to live.
I thank you ALL for taking the time to engage in Tabitha’s fight!
