Tahir was such a joy in so many of our lives. He had a difficult journey from Afghanistan and faced more challenges than any child should to find a place of safety and opportunity. But Tahir's determination to build a better life and be able to support his beloved family fuelled him and he achieved incredible things.

Tahir graduated from Holroyd High School with strong marks despite the many years of missed learning and studying in a new language. He went on to graduate from the Australian Catholic University and become a nurse known for his humor, integrity and grace. He was a friend to so many and had an exceptional gift for making every person he met feel valued. Tahir was always generous with his time and resources, sharing himself and drawing people closer to him, always with sincerity, authenticity and a cheeky sparkle in his eye. He bought joy and warmth to everyone he met.

On the 16th July 2023, Tahir died in a car accident near Meekatharra in remote WA, en route to a locum placement in Port Headland. His death leaves a huge hole in so many hearts here in Australia, but is also devastating for his mother and siblings in Pakistan. His friends in Canberra from Canberra Refugee Support (CRS) have organised this fundraiser to assist with the costs of Tahir's funeral and burial and to provide support to his family.

Nothing can replace the incredible light that this young man bought to our lives and to all those he nursed and encountered. But we can ensure that he is honoured and remembered and that his family are supported through the difficult months and years ahead.
