Taia’s medical expenses to a road of recovery

My name is Taia. I am 28 years old. I’m a wife of 11 years, and a mommy to two beautiful girls. I recently diagnosed with a brain tumor. Ive suffered from chronic migraines, which are debilitating and do not allow for me to do the things parents should be able to enjoy with their children; camping, hiking, going to family events, or even sometimes even just getting out of bed to play with Barbies. The tumor has increased the migraine occurrences and has also started to affect my vision.

After the pandemic was declared “no longer a public health emergency”, I lost my Medicaid, which I have been on for years and is the only way I have been able to afford to seek medical care. I now have insurance through my job, which costs me $650 a month just to have. In addition to that, I now have a $6,000 deductible. With all of the tests and procedures I am going to have, my deductible has to be met. The cost of the procedures and specialists co pays range from $150-$750. I work my butt off to make sure I can keep a roof over my family’s head and food in their mouths with the rising costs we are all suffering right now, so I have to delay tests and procedures if I can’t afford to pay $6,000 to get them done. I have to get several Brain MRI’s, consult with multiple specialists including neurosurgeons and endocrinologists, as well as get a very costly vision exam to ensure my vision will not be permanently effected by the tumor as it is pushing directly on my optic nerves.

With inflation and rising costs effecting everyone all the same, I do not expect a handout or for anyone to donate anything they cannot afford to go without.
