Taíno Woods Rising
Taino woods is a space for reconnection-- remembering the ways of our ancestors and reconnecting to Self, Pachamama, Spirit and others in the process.
Colonization assured that connection to land was severed, because it was understood that a strong connection to Mother Earth ensured a strong connection to our Magic. Our magic meant that we were self-actualized, and that did not bode well for those whose power hinged on our subjugation. Years of disconnection and necessary resilience later, there is an opportunity to begin to heal our lineage by caring for ourselves and fostering a connection to land at the Taino Woods.
Chantel and Jesse are the Keepers of the Land at Taino woods. The beautiful Husband and Wife team take care of the land, and all those who journey there, all while caring for their family and maintaining jobs independent of their land stewardship. They hold space for practitioners of all backgrounds to offer ceremony to our community and they also offer respite to those looking for a safe, welcoming place to camp. Land stewardship is no easy feat and it requires money. Even while cultivating a healing space, one must contend with the legacy of Colonialism and the systems birthed out of it such as Capitalism. Chantel and Jesse need community, need support, just as much as we have needed to feel the river water pass between our fingers, feel soil beneath our feet and gaze at Father sky adorned with stars without the light pollution of the city. Community, let us support our family! Chantel and Jesse are doing Spirit’s work, let us commit to being a part of that journey!
