Take a walk in Harper's shoes

Harper has that spark you know. That one that makes everyone else smile and get excited. She can make you laugh when you are frustrated, she can make you chuckle when you are hopeless, but she is only 15. She can't drive yet, she can't work, but she can study hard and explore through her classes. Living in rural South Carolina in one of the most economically hardest hit areas, with a mom with stage 4 cancer and no other family other than her siblings, to compensate she has taken more courses each semester than required to fill her time. She has already completed all her high school graduation requirements but is required to stay through her Junior year, therefore she is taking online college courses. Unfortunately, she is 28 miles from the college campus where events, meetings, and accessing resources occurs and 48 from the other campus. She has been working on a malfunctioning, untrustworthy computer this year because financially we can't make ends meet. When she comes home from school, she goes right back to working on her online college coursework and I can see its difficult staying focused and motivated when you're working with a limited computer. She qualified for FBLA Nationals last year and didn't go because she had no way to pay the conference/travel fees and now she was just awarded a computer programming summer research opportunity at Brown University but without a computer and money to get her there I worry that she will begin to lose faith in all that she is. She received a scholarship from Brown University to support her attendance costs, but it does not cover full tuition/travel costs. When you are alone in a big world it can feel awfully lonely to a little.
Please support Harper in her educational endeavors she would support you too.
