Take Amanda to Tanzania!
Donation protected
This summer I will be traveling to Tanzania to participate in medical service learning through the University of Louisville School of Medicine. My fellow rising second year medical students and I will rotate through several different clinics in rural communities in the Tanzanian highlands. I will gain experience diagnosing and treating illness and injury and practice medical skills serving patients who otherwise would not have access to healthcare. We will be hosted by the Mufindi Children's Village. From our sponsors:
"A Tanzanian Non-governmental organization (Foxes NGO) was registered with the aim to provide shelter, sustenance, education, and medical care for children in Mufindi, and to curtail the spread of HIV. Mufindi Orphans was founded shortly after in the United States as a 501(c)3 registered charity. "
For more information about our partner NGO, please click here .
Budget:
$2,700 will go to our hosts, Foxes NGO in Mufindi, Tanzania, in exchange for food and board at the Mufindi Children's Village; for medical supplies; and for local transportation once we arrive in Tanzania, including airfare from the capital to the highlands as well as ground transportation to and from clinic locations once we have arrived in our destination region.
$1,500 will go towards airfare from the US to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The remaining $800 will go towards travel insurance, immunizations, and fees required by the University of Louisville School of Medicine.
We leave Louisville mid-June and will return to the United States late-July.
How you can help:
We need suitcases! We will be bringing medications and supplies with us by plane, and are in need of donated suitcases.
Over the counter medications and vitamins are highly appreciated! We are specifically in need of children's vitamins, although prenatal vitamins and adult multivitamins are also very helpful.
