Take Down Birmingham's Confederate Monument
Donation protected
We are white clergy who live in and love Birmingham, Alabama and we believe that the Confederate monument does not represent the fullness of who we are nor the future we desire. We also believe that it should be the responsibility of white people to pay for its removal as we seek to tell our history more accurately and rid our society of systemic racism. Once collections are complete $50,000 will be taken by a member(s) of White Clergy for Black Lives Matter to Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin's office and the remaining donations above $50,000 will be taken to Faith in Action Alabama's Executive Director, Daniel Schwartz. Faith in Action Alabama is a multi-faith and multi-racial grass roots organization that works to end systemic racism in Alabama. Your support is greatly appreciated. Your gifts will be used to cover city costs of removing the statue and policy/advocacy work done by FIAA. It is our hope that removing this monument will be but one step towards a more equitable and just Birmingham, Alabama. Let's do this Alabama!
