Hi there!! Lovely People of Thornbury and all around the World!
Are you a fan of DIVE-BARS with charm and without fancy wanker bullshit?
Do you think THORNBURY already has enough breakfast Cafés?
WE do.
We are Sean + Lilly, living in the neighbourhood and Sean has already worked in FAROUK'S OLIVE – the place we just took over!!
We believe places like this should not disappear and get turned into the next gentrified joint but should remain for young and artistic folk, many of whom reside here in the northern suburbs and such as we identify ourselves :-)
We want to create a left-wing, LGBTQI friendly, Electro-punk/power-pop Bar/Café: "CAFE GUMMO"
-the kind that you can find every 100m in Europe but can't find here!
With weekly gigs, poetry slam, parties.... a lot of fun! Jiha!
Eventually we want to serve vegan cakes and cookies on the weekends as well as cheese and olive platters throughout the week, all together with the main concept of: cheap but good.
Later down the track hopefully even Vegan and Meat Goulash...mmmh...
But most important: Shiny-dirty. Cheap but glamorous. Safe and fun. Light and deep.
A chill hangout with a garage soundtrack.
AND a space for political meetings, exhibitions and potential rehearsal space (outside of operating hours).
Check out our Website to get an better impression of what we want to be:

Now let's talk business: The thing is, we went over our finances and realised we are $3000 short in our budget!
And that is on top of paying $60.000 to take over the exciting business.
Besides there are some renovations needed... not just to give it the look we imagine CAFE GUMMO to be,
but also to make the kitchen work again, open up the space more, get a “new” (better;) coffe machine etc...
So, here we are - Most of it we pay of our savings, some in instalments. And we are totally happy to do so because we are sure it will be worth it (!!) but like said above: $3000 are missing.
And anything on top of that, with any $$ you put towards it, the risk we take gets smaller + the opportunity to put more money towards creation gets bigger and with it:
The chance of actually finding success in what we would love to do - for us and for you!! Thank you for reading!! :-)
