Taking on a Marathon Challenge to Bring a Blooming Elephant
Amanda from Fowey River Academy is preparing to push her limits and run the London marathon to raise funds for an exciting new addition to the school farm: a life-sized, fruit and flower-filled elephant sculpture!
The farm has become an invaluable resource for students over the past year, providing a nurturing and supportive environment for over 200 young people facing a variety of challenges, including mental health issues and low self-esteem. It has helped many rediscover their love for learning and find joy in life again. Now, this dedicated staff member is taking on this incredible challenge to further enhance the farm's therapeutic and educational offerings.
The ambitious project involves creating a life-sized elephant sculpture with a robust steel skeleton. What makes this elephant truly unique is that it will be filled with an array of vibrant fruits and flowers, creating a stunning and sensory experience for all who visit the farm. This unique piece of art will not only be a visual spectacle but also a symbol of strength, resilience, and growth – mirroring the journey of the students who benefit from the farm's programs.
To make this vision a reality, Amanda has launched a GoFundMe campaign and is appealing to the local community and beyond for support. Every donation, no matter how small, will contribute to the construction of this magnificent elephant and help ensure the continued success of the farm.
