Talaya Thomas Memorial Fund for Maya Elle & Enzo
"How we play...We dance on naked earth with bare feet. And it is pure joy!" - Talaya Thomas
Friends,
This is Ashley Melin, Talaya's dear friend and founder of SoulJour. On behalf of her mom and sisters, Denis Michaud, Nick Ciraldo, Cristen Malia, The Moovment Governing Board (Reneca Ruff, Ashton August, Courtney Love, Mirna Tufekcic, Gigi Douglas, Pardees Goshtasb, & Kristen Rockford) it is with our most heartfelt condolences that we offer this fundraising campaign to honor Talaya Thomas and her children, Maya Elle (21) and Enzo (10).
No words can possiblly describe the profound effect Talaya had on so many people. "One of the Bigs" as Monica Mesa Dasi said, "Talaya's light was like a bright shooting star crossing the Universe. She showed me what friendship is..." Paola in Cahuita said.
After talking to so many of Talaya's closest friends and family all week, one thing is for certain – Talaya's impact on each one of us is HUGE. She made everyone feel special, loved, and important. She was the best listener. Best mom. Best complimenter. A connector and energizer, she made everyone their best Self. The Moovment mission is to "Envision • Empower • Transform • Love" - she accomplished this and then some! May we all learn how to LOVE MORE thanks to Talaya.
In honor of Talaya, we've set up a fundraising campaign for Maya Elle & Enzo for their immediate needs & future college fund. 100% of the donations will go directly to them. As a woman who so selflessly worked to make the world a better place, let's show our support and give back to her beautiful family! Your donations are so appreciated.
Pura Vida. T-Money Forever and Always.
Talaya recently wrote:
Being human means that I’ll screw, and up and I’ll make horrible decisions.
I get to love as much as I hate and ponder which emotion are worse.
It means I’ll lose some people — I might even lose myself.
I’ll be afraid, and fear will consume me. Being human means I am imperfect — a mix of conflicting thoughts and emotions, occasionally leading me down the wrong path. Failure is guaranteed, it’s always just a matter of time. The tumultuous times will seem to linger a bit longer than the happy times even though reality may be quite different.
Being human also means I will feel fantastic and full of joy.
I will win, and be amazed, and feel on top of the world. I’ll be curious and experience gratitude for the littlest things. Being human means feeling inspired and hopeful, when it’s hard to find.
Being human also means that I am connected to all.
In spite of our differences, flaws, the policies we believe in, or ideologies we uphold we’re in this life together! I am not alone. There are individuals out in the world, in this moment, who are all experiencing the same emotions and struggles. I may express myself differently, but we are all equally human.
I am thankful every day for all the feelings — the highs and the lows —for my flaws, for my gifts, for my stumbles, and for my triumphs. All of these things make me human.
What does being human mean to you?
