Talbot Memorial Fund for Mental Health Advocacy

Donation protected
This page has been set up so folks can donate electronically to Talbot Advocacy for Serious Mental Illness Care, a foundation we are in the process of forming in Robby Talbot’s honor following his passing on March 21, 2019, at only 30 yrs of age. We have purchased several hundred excellent books and documents to distribute and educate policymakers and stakeholders in the intersection of mental health care and the justice system. Mental Illness must be decriminalized.

Original March 2019 statement from the family of Robby Talbot:
We are shocked and completely devastated by the tragic death of Robby who we all loved so deeply. He was a loving person who would never harm a soul, cherished and beloved by his large, supportive family and circle of friends. Robby was a complicated and kind young man, incarcerated for breach of peace related to the serious mental health conditions he had lived with since childhood. Despite engaging in decades of treatment and recovery, he was more often failed by systems of help which are severely under-resourced. We will await the results of the investigation into the pepper-spray and restraint tactics that were used on him in the medical unit of the New Haven Correctional Center the morning of his death. March 2020 update: the corrections officer in charge that morning has been charged with criminal assault in the 3rd degree by the states attorney in this tragic event which the medical examiner ruled a homicide. We continue to fight for justice for Robby
