Talisker Surgery
Donation protected
I am absolutely gutted to be writing this but here goes. 48 hours ago my springer spaniel pup, Talisker, took a very bad tumble down the mountain while out for a run. She has fractured her elbow in two places, what we now know as a humeral fracture, and her elbow is currently in 3 pieces. She needs specialist surgery from an orthopaedic practice as fast as possible if we hope to save her leg. Our insurance company won’t cover this surgery as amputation is seen as a viable option. We never expected anything like this to ever happen and are heartbroken that her little mountain life will change so drastically.
The two surgical options are to remove the leg for £1600 or to try and save the leg with surgery using metal plates and screws to give her a chance at a life on four paws, costing £4000.
Talisk will turn 2 years old in June. She is fit and healthy with a good chance at a making a full recovery. Paying for the immediate emergency health care, pain relief and X-rays has used the savings we had and we’re forced to reach out for any help possible. We know there are other animals worse off out there but anyone who knows Talisk knows she loves to run in the mountains, bouncing through heather and swimming in every puddle or loch big enough. We work hard to make sure she has the best life a springer could want, but we cannot afford to save her leg without help. If anyone can help however big or small it will go so far in helping her live a happy life on four paws for as long as possible.
Thanks a million, Sorcha xx
