Tallulah's Fill the Hay Barn

Tallulah when she first arrived, March.
 Tallulah now, June.

2017 has been a rough year.  A bad stroke of luck left me with vet bills from another horse that got terribly sick at the start of the year.  Now there is Tallulah, an auction mare that fell into my lap. Tallulah came as a surprise 2 for 1 deal.   It's now my responsibility to ensure a healthy future for the mare and foal.
I'm working on paying off the vet bills, and do what the horses need.  But a lump sum would go to paying off horse vet bills before Tallulah's foal needs veterinary care, and stocking the hay barn over the next few months to stockpile before winter.

Both horses I plan to train as dependable, willing partners in the back country.  As a member of BCHA (Back Country Horsemen of America)  I love spending time on the mountain trails, clearing the trails for public trails and a reliable trail mount is worth their weight in gold.

Since highschool, my dream has been to rescue horses, re-educate and rehome them.   In the last several years, I have been honored to help foster several horses pulled from the auction pipeline.  To really have a horse rescue has not been in the cards at this time, as a divorced mother of 2 upcoming trail riders.  But finding I could help one at a time is better than nothing.

Tallulah is a special horse.  On her long freedom ride home, over twenty hours, in two days, everyone who'd met the emaciated mare said the same thing.  She was incredibly sweet and agreeable.
It was true.  Tallulah is a character unto herself, but very people freindly and easy going.  When I got Tallulah in the beginning of March she was a skeleton in a shotty winter coat.  Her hair was missing in places and she coming out in chunks in other places.

Now, three months later, she's sporting a beautiful sleek black coat.... and a big ol' foal belly.   It seems Tallulah managed to keep her foal and herself alive through a very rough period of her life.
Her future, I hope, will be a useful back country horse for trail riding, work and packing.
