El Salvador Church Repairs
Tax deductible
In El Salvador is Talnique, a small, rural, mountainous village in the department of La Libertad in which:
• Poverty has been categorized as extreme moderate poverty
• 44.51% of homes do not have water, and 21.3% of homes receive fresh water less than twice a week
• The illiteracy rate is 18.36%
• The population is 8,254 people of which 37% are aged 14 years or younger
Due to the extreme poverty and threats of violence, children as young as 8 years are often targeted to join gangs.
Located near the school and center of Talnique, there is an Iglesia Asamblea de Dios whose pastor Danilo (pictured below) is working tirelessly to improve the lives and opportunities for Talnique’s children. The church is open during the week as a safe place for the children to receive help with schoolwork, food, water, and bible lessons.
A large portion of the church, however, is in extremely poor condition.
In order to expand the outreach ministry and offer additional classes for children and adults the church desperately needs to be repaired and expanded. With a goal to add four classrooms in which life skills will be taught that will enable the children and adults to stay healthier and earn better wages such as sewing, English, hygiene etc., engineers have estimated the total materials cost at $40,000 (USD). This is a seemingly insurmountable cost to those living in the poorest of the Central American countries (According to UNICEF approximately 31% of the population living on less than $1 per day, and 58% living on less than $2 per day (USD).
The first phase of construcion requires the existing building to be repaired and reinforced, with the addition of one classroom, and relocation of the bathroom (outhouse) and wash station. The materials cost for this phase is $12,000 (USD).
I am personally dedicated to fostering global engagement opportunities for others and feel that giving financially is critical in that effort. Won't you consider helping us promote the spiritual, physical, mental and social well-being of the children of El Salvador through donating towards the phase one costs? Your donation not only enriches you but makes a profound difference in the lives of our Salvadoran brothers and sisters in Christ: You’re investing in the lives of the children, bringing them to know and experience Jesus, and empowering them to reach the next generation.
Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated.
