Visionary Activist and Family Needs Our Support

Donation protected

Tamara Rose Roske has dedicated 29 years of her life to building Earth Guardians into a global force that empowers and supports youth leaders across the planet. Her vision of empowering young people as leaders to care for the earth has grown to over 300 youth crews/chapters in over 70 countries that are working on environmental and climate issues directly impacting their future. The vision of millions of youth protecting the planet came to Tamara unexpectedly in her 20’s, after an all night hike into Haleakala Crater on Maui. She launched this vision in 1992 as an accredited high school focused on experiential learning and protecting the Hawaiian environment.

What you might not know about Tamara is that for 22 of those years, she volunteered her time without financial compensation, medical insurance, or vacation pay. For the remaining 7 years Tamara received a bare minimum salary while raising 6 incredibly creative, talented, loving children and did this mostly as a single parent.  All 6 of Tamara’s children became actively involved in Earth Guardians, helping to fulfill the vision that their mother had in 1992.

Earth Guardians, 1992 Torch of Hope Journey - story below

Earth Guardians, which continues to grow, has been going through some challenging transitions lead by new leadership that has shifted away from the original vision that Tamara and her family held for Earth Guardians for the past 29 years. After much consideration, and a very hard decision Tamara has stepped down as Executive Director to begin a new chapter in her life. This has led Tamara and her family to make the decision to return to their homeland in Maui, where the amazing, impactful Earth Guardian adventure began. This will allow Tamara the time and space to heal from many years of long work days, often 50-70 hours a week and to fulfill the next phase of her vision. She is excited to start a new chapter in her life, one that will continue to build on her 29 years of experience in a similar lane of protecting the planet and scaling climate and environmental solutions.

Without savings and financial stability, Tamara and her family need our financial support to return to their “homeland” on Maui.  Tamara plans to channel her creative energies into writing a book about her incredible life journey that has touched the lives of many across the globe. Her wish is that it will inspire people to join together and turn the tides on the critical issues we are facing as a global community, thus ensuring future generations a healthy, regenerative planet.

Costs associated with them returning home to Maui:

-Moving their personal and household belongings from Colorado to Maui:  $8,575
-Moving Tamara and Itzcuauhtli's dependable vehicles to the Island from Colorado: $5,200 for both
-Other costs that will come up ie. flights, rent a car till their cars arrive: $3,000
Totaling 16,775

"Tamara has dedicated many years of love and service to uplifting and empowering youth worldwide to engage with their communities and protect this beautiful Earth that is our home. We hope that you will show some love and be inspired to support her with a donation and share Tamara’s story with your family and friends; no donation amount is too small. As you can imagine, making a move like this comes with enormous costs. We can help make this transition for Tamara and family possible if we all work together.

Other historical highlights of her work:
Through her work on the Hawaiian Islands, her school received the “Childrens Torch of Hope” from the Dalai Lama and 25 students from the school presented the Torch at high profile events in 29 states during a six month tour, finally delivering the Torch and documents written by youth working for a better future to the United Nations. It was during this journey that Tamara knew they had to take Earth Guardians to a global audience because of the critical state of the planet. She and her family left Maui for Colorado in 1997 and Earth Guardians became the powerful, respected organization it is today.
