Tama’s medical expenses

Donation protected
On the 15th November 2018 all of our lives were turned upside down as Tamati was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Infantile Astrocytoma, which is an extremely rare type brain tumour. Shortly after his diagnosis a team of Neurosurgeons removed as much of the tumour as possible, however its unable to be removed in full due to being around his pituitary gland. Needless to say Tamati has had a very rough road, however he is a little trouper and is in for the fight of his life.

The side effects which Tamati is suffering as he endured two surgeries, a severe stroke and also paralysis and loss of sight along his right side of his body all within one year.

In saying that at the same time he is still attending OT, Physio and speech therapy. Tama is still fighting day by day to live the best life he can and we hope you guys can help support us in making that happen for him.

Tama was accepted in to a program in 2020 which had commenced the start of a trial treatment. He has been on this for 2 years now.
This is our first  hopes we have had at maintaining an keeping the tumour from growing.

We have also trialled many more treatments that weren’t as successful as the one we are now on. Chemotherapy was not successful in steadying the growth or helping Tama as he had become highly allergic to that given treatment also made him very sick.

As we fast forward to now.

Tamati trail drug treatment will be coming to an end soon an it’s time for us to work out our next steps in treatment, as this drug has been successfully.

This drug is not covered under medicare an once the trail is over that’s it.

We are working with oncologist and our team to help this process and treatment to be put on to Medicare or at-least get cover with an exemption.

At this point we are trying our best to cover the cost and fundraise where we can and as parents it’s hard for us to ask for help because we know it’s hard for everyone else these days, but as parents we know you will understand that we will do anything to save our child.

We ask for your help, your word, your thoughts. Big or small. Please spread the word so we can keep giving Tama the life he dreams of.
