Tambor Bay Turtles needs a Ride!
Donation protected
My name's Nicole, and I love saving sea turtles! I have had the joy of spending the last 5 years getting to know a tiny little beach town in Costa Rica, and found even more pleasure in supporting it's local sea turtle project.
Tambor Bay Turtles is a small, mostly volunteer, organization that helps protect and preserve the Olive Ridley turtle population in Tambor, Costa Rica. While the organization has one full time employee, our efforts rely on the volunteers that come to stay and experience the daily activities involved with relocating nests, and releasing babies after they hatch. Hard work and hot sunny days, people from around the globe travel to the tiny little beach town to experience first hand the joy that nature brings.
While our annual fundraiser typically covers the cost of our operating budget, things can come up that require a boost in support. Now, as we continue to grow and invite volunteers, we find our van in disrepair. It can be fixed for the time being (it's our slow season), but the reality is--it needs to be replaced.
Replacing such a van isn't impossible...but it comes at quite a cost in the tropics. We have searched the recent market, looked at current options, and we think that having a goal of $15,000 will get us a safe, reliable vehicle that will last a number of years. (Let's just say there's no Carvana here in Tambor.)
So, as we approach our 2024 fundraiser, we have decided to launch this campaign. For those who are abroad and unable to attend the event, this is one way you can make a donation and help our efforts. The money raised by this page will be earmarked for the purchase of a van, so you know exactly why and what your money will be used for. Any amount raised above our goal will go to the annual operations budget.
If you're passionate about turtles, you can share this page and encourage your friends to help support our efforts. A bucket fills drop by drop!
