Tame That Computer needs to move!
Donation protected
Hi, we are Tame That Computer in the town of Kurri Kurri, NSW, Australia.
We are a small family-owned computer repair shop that started back in August 2002.
The building we have leased our little shop in since 2007 is unexpectedly (to us) marked for demolition and redevelopment which is good for the town, but pretty awful for us. We simply haven't the budget to afford a move to another location and although we could just throw the towel in and get regular jobs, we think that the part we play in the community and the benefits that give the several thousand people a year we help are too useful to just allow to die.
We are therefore moved to request assistance in filling up a war chest that will allow us to move to and continue our work in a new location, as yet unknown but certainly local.
We have four staff as well as ourselves and we fix computers and laptops running Windows, mainly for people in our town and surrounds, but occasionally far, far away through Teamviewer remote control.
Our primary service offering is a fixed fee service for computers that need it, with a whole year of free support on that computer covering any labour required to solve any problem with it or question about it. We also make new computers when that is the best alternative for the owner of a broken computer.
We have strong ethics and a desire to benefit the community around us, so we don't charge for quotes, insurance inspections, or things that it turns out can't be fixed for a reasonable amount of money and we adhere strictly to our one-year of free support so as not to charge for every little thing.
We provide work experience opportunities for school children approaching working age, and for people being helped by various organisations to find work or find out whether computer work is what they'd like to do. We give discounted contract support rates to local non-profit organisations and provide the labour to fix computers donated to us by our wonderful customers so that we can donate them to people in need.
Raised funds will be used to cover the cost of moving and setting up the new workshop as well as covering the loss of income while we move.
Thanks for helping.
Andy.
