Hope this finds you well, healthy, and safe. I am writing to seek your support for my sister, Tamika Mustipher, who is recovering from two strokes sustained in May 2020. As the financial and emotional burden of this injury is mounting, we have decided to ask for your help. ANYTHING you are able to contribute to her recovery will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Tamika's journey back to health began at Mt. Sinai Hospital (NYC). In July she was transferred to Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA, which rated among the top 10 facilities for brain and spinal injury recovery in the US.
The amount of effort and energy Tamika is putting into her recovery takes my breath away; I am proud beyond measure, and have tremendous respect for her efforts - it is a sight to see, and her efforts have resulted in steady progress. Tamika is a fighter. I am inviting you to join in her endeavor to resume a fierce and THRIVING life.
For those of you who are less familiar, stroke recovery is a grueling, painstaking process. Regaining mobility is one thing, Recovering speech and social connections - is a quieter, less visible challenge, but the most critical one. The key ingredients to a full, robust recovery is social support and interaction.
This week, Tamika begins outpatient therapy; I have joined her here in Atlanta to assist her in this stage of her recovery. At this time, I am managing the medical as well as her day to day care, which requires 24 hour support.
