Supporting Tammy Etheridge and Family
Donation protected
Tammy Etheridge is my stepmom, and she would do anything she could for anyone in need. She never meets a stranger and approaches every person she meets with kindness. I am humbly asking for any help you can give to her and the rest of our family during this time. Your donations will be used to help the family pay regular bills as Tammy will be unable to work for 2-3 months and Dennis will be spending a lot of time at the hospital. I will be updating this page as often as possible.
Tammy was admitted to Saint Thomas Saturday, Jan. 7, after complaining of stomach pain for a week. Sunday, Jan. 8, she was scheduled for a minimally invasive surgery to remove a blood clot in her celiac artery. After beginning the surgery, surgeons discovered the artery was not salvageable, and a more serious, invasive surgery was necessary. Beginning that surgery Sunday night, surgeons discovered half of her small intestine was dead tissue and would need to be removed. The other two arteries they would use to supply blood to the rest of her abdomen also had clots but were able to be cleaned out. Tuesday, Jan. 10, she had another surgery where surgeons removed dead tissue in the large intestine and liver, and removed her appendix and gallbladder. Another surgery is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 12, and we will update you as we know more. Tammy has been on a ventilator since Sunday and will continue to be for the foreseeable future as doctors begin to wean her off.
Tammy has a long road of recovery ahead of her. After her release from the hospital, she will recover at home for at least 2-3 months and will have some required rehabilitation time. She will not be able to work, and with the medical bills, rehabilitation, and other family needs for Dennis, Christopher, and Natalie, your support would mean so much.
Thank you in advance for helping our family, and please keep Tammy, Dennis, Zack, Christopher, Natalie, and myself in your prayers.
