Loving wife, fearless friend, and mother of four: Tammy Lynn Lake unexpectedly passed away from health complications on Monday, June 13, 2022. She is survived by her children Dru, Nate, Frankie and Mya, her mother Marlene, brother Gerry and husband Dallas.
Tammy was a shining light in the lives of many. Growing up in rural Alberta, she aspired to pursue a life beyond a small town. She carved out a life of adventure in the big city, where she expressed her talents and passions – from cosplay to karaoke, crafting to swordplay. She was a real Harley Quinn and firecracker.
Before her journey as the “Viking Chef,” she was already well-respected in Calgary’s restaurant community. She not only had the work ethic and skill but was someone who helped many greenhorns find their footing in an unforgiving industry up to and through the most difficult times of the pandemic.
Among her many qualities as a friend, her personal experience with mental health blessed her with the compassion that drove her to help the people she loved when they were in trouble and help them out of the darkest places. Tammy loved and loved hard.
Never shy to speak her mind and unapologetic, Tammy was unabashedly herself.
Her family and community are devastated by this loss. Tammy's children are left in the unthinkable position of growing up without their mother. They will be cared for by the remaining family but will have a long and difficult road ahead to find stability and healing.
We are establishing this fundraiser to help lend support to the children and their caregivers, who will be tasked with navigating the costs of this unexpected tragedy, caring for and supporting the family on this unexpected journey.
Thank you for your generosity, kindness and support.
Sincerely,
Tammy's family
