Tammy Meredith's Medical Expenses

This fundraiser is for Tamara Meredith, whose life changed in an instant after a traumatic car accident (September 16th, 2023), which has left her paralyzed from the waist down. She is in tremendous and unrelenting pain and is facing a lengthy hospital stay and extensive road through recovery and rehabilitation.

Tammy is in Atlanta, GA (11 hours away from her home) where she started on a completely different journey; also, life changing in a very different way. She spent the last year losing 159 lbs in preparation for weight loss surgery in Atlanta. She had the surgery on August 25th. She was recovering and very close to being released by her doctor so she could come back home to Quincy. The unimaginable happened. Exactly 4 weeks and 1 day later, her vehicle was struck from behind at a high rate of speed. She had to be cut out of her vehicle and was taken to a trauma center where she had bleeding around the brain, a collapsed lung, several broken ribs, and a spinal cord injury in the thoracic region. After she was stabilized, she had surgery which included rods and screws placed in her back.

Any donations will be used for medical expenses, including Doctors, Hospitals, Rehab Centers, but also medical needs such as appropriate wheelchair and necessary handicapped renovations for a place to live and also transportation from Atlanta, GA back to Quincy, IL . Any insurance that could be collected will not come close to covering even a small fraction of her medical expenses.

Tammy is a very special person, who is kind to all. She has always been more than generous, in numerous ways, to friends, family, coworkers and their children. She is very involved in her church and has a very strong faith and positive attitude that is admired by all and humbling at the same time. She loves her job and looks forward to the day she can return to work and carry on where

she left off.
