On April 10th 2020, Tammy ( Waldeck ) Hodgeman was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street near her home. She underwent surgery, but her injuries were much too severe and she passed away on 4/11/20. She leaves behind her husband Matt Hodgeman.
Tammy was considered to have an “old soul” with a child’s “non-judgmental heart” by most people that knew her.
Tammy was "deeply loved" by Matthew Hodgeman as his wife for over 30yrs. An inseparable couple through each decade, they were truly each other's best friend and companion.
Throughout her teen and early adult years,Tammy endured multiple back operations, These left her in a great deal of pain and physical limitations for most of her everyday life. However, even through all of her hurdles, Tam always maintained a positive outlook in her everyday life... never one to seek sympathy or wallow in self pity.
Despite her physical limitations,Tammy was employed for decades at Garland Pen in Coventry. When her body could no longer work in such a limited capacity, she retired from her position at Garland. Tammy and Matt relocated to New York where they lived for several years, before returning back home to Kent County.
Her favorite activities included; walking her cat “Oreo”, puzzle making, reading novels and watching movies with her husband. Her warmth and love was especially shared with her dozens of nieces and nephews, which Tammy could spend hours talking with, regardless of their age.
Her endless supply of hugs along with her selfless ways will be greatly missed by her family.
The fond and humorous memories of Tam’s essence will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
The family’s concerns now must shift to Matt. He is disabled, having previously suffered a heart attack as well as other medical conditions. While her family have been able to cover most of her burial costs, Him and Tam depended on each other not only emotionally, but financially as well. Needless to say, he is emotionally devastated and can barely function at this time.
We are hoping to help Matt with his unknown future expenses in order to get back on his feet.
Any donations regardless, are greatly appreciated.
