Tammy's Heart Transplant Journey

Hello, I am Julie (Sorbie) Ashlock, and I am raising funds for my beautiful niece Tammy (Mohon) Gorrie for the last part of her journey to a heart transplant. She is the daughter of my beautiful sister Sharon (Sorbie) Mohon, who passed away in 2007 from heart disease, and Bob Mohon, who died unexpectedly in 2021 from pancreatic cancer. This is her story.

Tammy was born in 1968 in Alton, where she lived in the area as a young girl. She developed heart disease at a young age and had numerous heart attacks and procedures over the years. In 2020 she had a cardiac arrest in the hospital in Michigan where she was living. They resuscitated her for over an hour, and by the grace of God, she survived after two weeks in a coma without any other deficits. The medical team put in an LVAD (left ventricular assist device). This heart pump is only a bridge to a heart transplant. This was the start of her journey. She would need a heart transplant to survive. After recovery and release for travel, she moved to Las Vegas, where her father lived so he could be her required caregiver. He sadly passed away a year later, leaving her living on her own.

On the last part of her journey, she needs to move to Utah until her heart transplant, which will be in Salt Lake City and then one year past that. Tammy is financially in need for her relocation and medical expenses not covered by insurance. Her siblings and other friends and family have continued to help as much as we can. She has very little income on disability.
