Update from a friend:

My name is Jill and I have the pleasure of working with Gilbert. I have asked Gilbert if I could take over his account and give an update. Thank you to every one of you that has donated to help fix his electricity. Because of you, the course of Gilbert's life has changed. Thanks to the generosity of many great people Gilbert has a hotel room for 2 weeks and is looking forward to going home to electricity!

Gilbert's backstory and why he is in this situation:

Years ago Gilbert had the pleasure/responsibility of taking care of his parents financially while they were sick. He spent all of his savings and extra funds providing care for his father after he had suffered a stroke. His mother's health has also deteriorated needing more and more resources from Gilbert. He said to me, "People ask how I got into this situation. If they only knew. I spend my money making sure my parents eat before I do." So when a storm 4 years ago destroyed his roof, Gilbert barely had the funds to fix that. The roof was repaired but other damage to his house remained untouched. He has been living in his home since with no insulation, no drywall, and a large part of the ceiling missing. His bed has been relocated into the kitchen for a better quality of sleep (if that is possible).

We have made great progress with Gilbert's home. This week our God-sent contractor, Scott M. is meeting with the trenchers to dig power lines. This will make the fix much more durable so he won't have to deal with the same problem again. The trenchers will be at least $2500 and the electrician will be roughly $3500. We are using the remaining fund to fix his bedroom ceiling. That will take up the remainder of the money.

There is so much more that needs to be fixed to make Gilbert's home livable. Nobody should have to live in these conditions. We are hoping to raise more money to provide Gilbert with a fresh start. We would like to insulate his walls, add drywall, level his floors, install new laminate, and do some structural repairs outside.

I will personally update this page with the repairs and cost so everyone knows where the money is going. I will also update this page with pictures of the progress.

Hi My name is Gilbert Sanchez I'm trying to raise funds to repair the electricity in my home. A couple of recent storms knocked some trees down and it tore all my electrical meter and wiring from the house. It's a costly repair that I just can't afford right now. Estimates are really high.
