Tango needs your help to fund vital surgery and care

Our beloved 11-year-old cat, Tango, needs to have his leg amputated this Thursday following a long battle with increasing pain and infection. We urgently need to raise £800 to cover the surgery and blood tests.
Tango was injured around 8 weeks ago during a fight with our other cat. A deep bite went unnoticed at first — we thought it was a minor wound — but it pierced the bone, leading to a severe bone infection.
At first it seemed like it would be simple to treat. We started with an antibiotic injection, but we didn't find out for over a week that the infection was resistant to it and so had been progressively getting worse. Despite switching antibiotics, doing daily wound care, and following all the vet’s advice (including physio and almost-weekly checkups), Tango’s condition has slowly worsened. An x-ray confirmed the bone infection, and we've done everything possible to avoid this outcome — but the damage is now too severe.
Today, the vet confirmed what we feared: amputation is the best and kindest option to relieve his pain and give him a chance at a good quality of life.
We’ve tried to be responsible pet parents. Tango is an indoor cat, and we always had insurance — until recently. At 11 years old, his premiums became too expensive to maintain on a low income, and we made the mistake of thinking he’d be fine. He’s always been healthy and so laid-back, spending 18–20 hours a day asleep. We never imagined something like this could happen.
We’ve already spent our small savings on previous treatments, vet visits, antibiotics, probiotics, and supportive care. We've also received help from kind local animal charities, the Blue Cross, and generous family members. But all of that support has now been exhausted, and we simply don’t have the funds left for this vital, urgent surgery.
That’s why we’re asking for help.
If just 80 people gave £10, we’d reach the goal. Any amount — even just the cost of a coffee — would bring us closer to giving Tango back the pain-free life he deserves.
Please share if you can’t donate. Thank you for reading and caring about our sweet, handsome boy.
With love and gratitude
